The CS team will develop and test existing software, and bridge the gap between the control hardware and software. Software shall be responsible for advance path planning and "tail-follow's-head" algorithms, positional correction and error minimization, and making the mechanical arm interfacable to humans. Students wishing to pursue an Meng project in computer vision can experiment and develop in such areas as optical flow, object recognition, and error minimization/positional tracking using external cameras. This presents a challenging problem for a head-mounted optical device or camera, as the work environments are very non-ideal for image processing (lusterous metallic environments, dark environments,
etc.)
